Madrid, June 6th 2010  MASSIVEGOOD made its Spanish pop culture debut in front of almost 100,000 fans at Madrid’s Rock in Rio festival, one of the largest musical events in the world!

Only a few days after MASSIVEGOOD was made available in on and offline travel agencies throughout Spain and as our support videos continue to go viral (11,000 views in 2 days for our 2010 Spanish World Cup Soccer Team vid), Rock in Rio’s event was a massive kick-off for our movement.

It all started just after sundown on the festival’s biggest night, when popular radio DJ Tony Aguilar took to the stage to introduce MASSIVEGOOD. Although the crowd was anxiously awaiting performances by R&B singer Rihanna and Columbian superstar Shakira, Tony was able to quiet the masses for a “serious moment.” But that’s when the fun began...

For the next fifteen minutes, rock'n'rollers whooped and hollered as videos of our new supporters were shown on enormous screens visible throughout the 200,000 square-metre Ciudad del Rock (City of Rock).  Artistas españoles se unen a MASSIVEGOOD, a short film explaining our story through Spain’s most well-known personalities, was accompanied by cheers for each star. Our newest video, featuring members of Spain’s beloved soccer team, received a particularly warm welcome - La Furia Roja are World Cup favourites this year.

Concert goers had been given MASSIVEGOOD glow sticks at the entrance, and the audience was a fluorescent ocean of MASSIVEGOOD colors.

After the videos, Tony Aguilar led the audience in a communal “massive click,” helped by a screened demonstration of how people can give to fight HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis and improve maternal and child health when they book travel with our Spanish partners. To symbolize this massive click, Tony Aguilar presented MASSIVEGOOD with a 1,000 euro check from Rock in Rio on stage!

Thanks to the support from Rock in Rio’s Brazilian founder Robert Medina, MASSIVEGOOD was an official “social partner” this year. Spike Lee’s “Masterpieces” was in continual rotation between acts on the main stage during the entire festival and the MASSIVEGOOD logo was to be found everywhere in the Ciudad del Rock.

Please stay tuned to our Spanish language website for more news, videos and photos from Rock in Rio.

Adios and to quote Tony Aguilar at the end of our MASSIVEGOOD event:

Viva MASSIVEGOOD, Viva Rock in Rio!!!
